About my art
Already during my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, I began experimenting with the language of contemporary art, its color forms, and themes. However, I have always expressed this mainly through painting and drawing. Yet I longed for literal visual art, for its more accessible form, color, and simpler message, above all for content, so that it could reach many people. Art is not only a form of self-expression, but also a form perceived by other people who look at it. I have always been interested in people. By reflexively doodling on paper, an eye, a nose, an eyebrow, an ear, and finally an entire face emerged, undeniably a mirror of feelings. From the face, we can read what hurts us or pleases us. Without the face and all its elements, we would be as if without a center, without a soul, without expression. The human being, especially the portrait, is the subject of my work. I choose the figures I paint for various reasons: because they are beautiful to me, because they have psychological depth, because a fleeting emotion rested on their face for a moment, or because I am friends with one of them and they have special meaning for me. In the “Diversity” series, the diversity of the characters was important, where they come from, their culture, religion, skin color. That is what makes us as people unique and interesting, and this diversity is a positive thing. We do not have to be the same, and we are not the same, which is why this series is also about tolerance toward the other, their difference, and the beauty that lies within it. But the human being is not alone; they are surrounded by nature, captured in the landscape that we observe more or less closely. We do not float in empty space; we stand on the earth, we are surrounded by mountains, lakes, seas, flowers, trees, and we are part of this nature, so we long for it. When we stand consciously and look at the landscape around us, we are usually overcome by peace, rocked by the wind, feeling the smell of the sea and of freedom. That is also why I paint landscapes; it is a kind of consolation, also for myself. I want my paintings to be received positively, to transport the viewer into that space in our mind that awakens positive emotions in us, so that whoever hangs my work on the wall looks at it with joy and discovers something new each time.
In a world that has become difficult for many people, the art I create is meant to be positive from the outset. The energy of this intention vibrates when I begin to paint a new picture, and I hope that this can be seen and felt.
When I exhibit my works, they are received as follows: People say they are beautiful, strong, nostalgic, very, very positive, so I think I achieve my goal every time....
