Martyna Merkel

MARTYNA MERKEL is a graduate of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. She studied at the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture. She defended her diploma in painting in 2014 in the studio of Prof. Stanisław Kortyka and in the studio of architectural painting and art in public space under Prof. Adam Chmielowiec. She has participated in exhibitions and competitions in Poland and abroad.

She is involved in landscape painting, focusing on the monotype technique and the sea motif. She is fascinated by color combinations and paints series in shades of blue, violet, and gray. The young artist, who resists the general need for provocation and slowly refines her craft, also creates harmonious and calm views of boats and coastlines.

Martyna Merkel looks at the world. She observes, contemplates, and experiences. Painting is the result of her gaze, her attention, her sensitivity, and the way she condenses her impressions on canvas. Descriptive elements disappear in favor of a concise construction of forms that only suggests objectivity.
