Artist Statement

In her artistic practice, she explores the relationships between space and time through the language of abstraction. Her starting point is an empty surface – a sheet of paper that becomes a defined field of activity, organised by a grid, lines or a designated zone. She creates painterly spaces that simultaneously function as boundaries, organising structures and sites of interaction among individual elements of the composition. Her work draws on principles derived from the theory of New Music and the compositional methods and processes characteristic of music of the 20th and 21st centuries. She refers to concepts such as repetition, collage, module, enumeration, combinatorics, interdependence, belonging and relationality, translating them into a visual language. She treats the image not only as an autonomous painterly composition but also as a structure in which parallels can be found with the organisation of musical material. In this way, she initiates a dialogue between image and sound, searching for their interrelationships and for possibilities of overlap between the two disciplines. At the centre of her interests is the relationship between the visual organisation of space and the musical structure of time. She explores how rhythm, sequence, repetition and variability can be expressed through painterly form.

She explores the boundaries between what is defined, calculated or automatic and what is intuitive and initially unintended. She juxtaposes the recurring motif of grids and geometric forms with the painterly surface, expressed through gesture. She juxtaposes recurring motifs of grids, lines and geometric forms with expressive painterly gestures. She is interested both in the possibility of constructing an image according to established rules and in the moment when that structure is disrupted or transgressed. Her work is an attempt to capture points of contact between space and time, image and sound, order and intuition.

Biography

She works in painting, drawing, object-based art and sound art. In 2024, she earned a doctorate in art at the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków, in the discipline of fine arts and conservation of artworks. She graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, receiving her diploma with distinction (2019) from Prof. A. Bednarczyk's studio, with an additional diploma project in Prof. M. Chołoniewski's Audiosphere Studio. In 2026, she also completed a master's degree in Musicology at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.

Using the language of abstraction, she explores the boundaries between what is defined, calculated or mechanical and what is intuitive and initially unintended. She juxtaposes grids and geometric forms with painterly gesture, challenging their mechanical quality through hand-drawn structures. She explores the relationships between image and sound, and between space and time. She draws on concepts from the theory of New Music and various compositional methods, seeking ways to translate them into the language of visual art.

She was a finalist in LOOSTRO, the 16th Autumn Art Salon (2024), STRABAG Artaward International (2022) in Vienna, and the 45th Bielska Jesień Painting Biennale (2021). She participated in the international ART CIRCLE 2025 artist residency in Slovenia, with exhibitions at Vila Vipolze – Brda (Slovenia) and Sakaide Museum in Japan. She was a prizewinner at the 12th Triennial of Small Painting Forms (2022) and Nowy Obraz / Nowe Spojrzenie (2020 and 2019). Her work has been shown in exhibitions including the solo exhibition "Fields of possibilities" at Flatgallery in Bratislava, Slovakia (2026), "Opowiem Wam o półsnach" at the Green Gate, National Museum in Gdańsk (2025), "Styki" with Kinga Burek at K34 in Kraków (2023), and "Po godzinach" at Nanazenit in Warsaw (2021). Her works are held in mBank's "m jak malarstwo" collection, which was later donated to the National Museum in Gdańsk. She received a scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2018/2019) and the Jan Matejko Scholarship in fine arts (2018/2019).
