Liptovska Mara

The oil painting on canvas by Polish artist Karolina Świdecka, “Liptowska Mara”, depicts a deserted recreational area beside a Slovak lake. In the foreground, we see a goal without a net, with the calm surface of the water and a mountain range behind it. Simplified forms and an unreal colour palette lend the composition a decorative quality. The absence of people and the remnants of former recreational infrastructure evoke memories of summers past.
