Noise in the Street
Karyna Kalinka
"In my visual interpretation of street noise, I focused on the sensation of transition between loud and quiet sounds, and on the attempt to break down the multitude of acoustic stimuli into individual elements. Through this process, I discovered the pulsation of the sonic experience—the rhythm hidden within the noise, its oscillation and vibration. It is precisely this pulsation that I transferred onto the canvas, giving it a painterly form.
Here, colors become the equivalent of sounds: high tones appear bright and warm, while low tones are dark and cool.
The format of the painting plays a crucial role in this process. Its monumental scale allows the viewer, in a sense, to enter the space of the composition, immerse themselves in it, and experience the sounds almost physically."
