Crack

Julia Turbacz

This intimate oil painting is rendered in warm, golden tones. At first glance, it is difficult to tell whether we are looking at an abstract composition or a fragment of reality drawn from the artist’s immediate surroundings.
“Crack” is a study of a seemingly insignificant detail—a fracture in a wall noticed by chance. Isolated from its surroundings and transferred onto canvas, the crack loses its everyday familiarity. It begins to resemble a fissure in rock or a fragment of an unknown landscape.
